The mission of the CCCL is to promote and advance the profession of counseling and to protect consumers of counseling services in California.Its goal is to establish and maintain qualifications, ethics, and practice standards for Professional Counselors, and by initiating State regulation of Professional Counselors through licensure, to assure adherence to such standards.

CCCL is a 501(c)(6) organization and the Board of Directors is comprised of representatives of its affiliated organizations.
