January 1, 2010:
The bill became law and the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) has the responsibility for developing the rules and regulations to implement the bill and it will gear up to accept LPCC applications. The BBS will post information on the implementation of SB 788 on it's website www.bbs.ca.gov
January 1, 2011:
Application forms for grandparenting and reciprocity will be accepted from January 1, to June 30, 2011 by the Board of Behavioral Sciences. See Licensure Requirements. Applications for intern registration will also be accepted at this time.
Due to the rules and regulations process taking longer than expected:
- Applications for the LPCC will be available no sooner than December 2010.
Due to budget and staffing constraints:
- The BBS cannot respond to questions until after January 1, 2011
- The BBS expects up to a four-month processing time for applications
January 1, 2012:
Applications for regular licensure will be available for those not eligible for grandparenting or reciprocity. See Licensure Requirements.
